Bard on the Beach: Equivocation

This was my favourite of all the Bard presentations this year, which is a little bit funny because it's the only non-Shakespearean play. The plot centers around Shakespeare weighing his options after he was asked by the crown to write state propaganda about the Guy Fawkes' Gunpowder Plot. I need stories like this to tie history together, to make Shakespeare the man more real than his characters.

Everyone other than the actors portraying Shakespeare and his daughter played multiple roles, and they were all superb.  Along with their costumes, their entire demeanor changed, their accents, a limp, their posture. It was brilliantly done.

The introduction of the Macbeth storyline was an extra bonus because the lead actor who played Shakespeare played Macbeth in the Bard's 2012 run!
